The starting point for this work was the sense I had of there being very little ritual to mark the rite of passage of a young girl's transition from childhood into puberty in Western culture and specifically of my own experience growing up as a teenage girl in 70's Britain. The process used - of assembling found objects attempts to emulate the often simple means by which ritual can be achieved and yet imbue the participants or objects used with an unexpected sense of gravitas, of mystery; purveyors of the unexplained.
