My recent works within interior spaces make reference to the world outside; an interconnectedness of all things and to the wider universe.
Sunlight and shadows reflect the human experience of life. Shadows evoke a sense of threat. The softer shadows, diffused light and sunlight from windows alters from moment to moment as it passes across walls and objects reflecting and making connection between various surfaces. As sunlight slowly passes over its path the scene is illuminated. Beautiful and ambiguous effects are created. The sunlight then passes on its way and is gone until the next time. This cycle of light is closely allied to the phenomena of energy, time and change. It can be seen to parallel the enigmatic nature of life itself.
The transient and the ambiguous are themes that I seek to develop in my work. I would like the viewer to engage in a visual conversation that creates personal meaning. -
I divide my time between creating events and brand experiences for my company ProduceUK and making artworks which are a direct response to my life in the corporate environment.
My work is inspired by the notion of the non-place, corporate offices and surfaces, urbanisation and town planning.
Time spent in client status meetings studying office layouts and designs has given me unparalleled access to the spaces occupied by the ‘creative industries’ that drive London; Where open-plan offices are decked out in faux-flock wallpaper, Damien Hirst-esque Spots on walls and Victoriana gilt frames presenting company achievements. -
My main approach to my artwork is subconscious with confidence; over the years I’ve learnt to trust this approach. In my mixed media sculpture work I just find objects that attract my eye and eventually find a place for them in my bricolage sculptures.
I nearly always end up with humorous and surrealistic aspects to my work. I also work in many other mediums: kiln glass castings, bronze, wood, plastics, film, photography, water colours and pastels

The work explores paradoxes or the blurred, sometimes uncomfortable, confusion that exists between states.
Projects include constructed objects and maquettes, site specific installations and photographic documentation of the artistic working process itself.
My background in design and illustration continues to inform my work so that line, frame and space interests me just as much whether it’s in three dimensions or two. I've previously exhibited in London as part of artist-led collectives.
I'm documenting my work processes online to gain critical awareness of individual projects, but also as a potential resource for others for techniques I have used.

The starting point for this work was the sense I had of there being very little ritual to mark the rite of passage of a young girl's transition from childhood into puberty in Western culture and specifically of my own experience growing up as a teenage girl in 70's Britain. The process used - of assembling found objects attempts to emulate the often simple means by which ritual can be achieved and yet imbue the participants or objects used with an unexpected sense of gravitas, of mystery; purveyors of the unexplained. -
I seek to incorporate ideas of simplicity, peace, truth and power. I am interested in the subjective or provisional nature of progress, and not least the impact on the Earth and on human psychology. In particular I enjoy the emergence of layers of meaning from an initial idea and an initial perception. I like to allow the flow of interaction of the concept and materials to evolve and to have dominance over any conscious planned outcome. Often I will attempt to tease that edge between closure of meaning and dialogue with the work. I hope to question fixed assumptions and the idea of absolutes.
I like to include found objects and materials and sometimes combine these with organic materials collected directly from nature, frequently emphasising the apparent incongruity of the partnership. I am open to absorb a wide range of processes and materials into the work. For example sound, chemistry, electronics, text, poetry and images, alongside worked materials.
